What else do you need to know?
There has
been a lot of discussion about how safe Teflon is in the use of
cookware. I have read many opinions from both sides, however,
I like non-stick cookware and have many pieces that I use on a
regular basis. One of the things that is important to
remember is that you should only
use low to medium heat and if at any time you overcook your piece
severely to the stage where the non stick coating begins to peel,
throw the piece out and get a new one.
Now we
all know that you and I won't do this to your beautiful cookware,
but this happened to one of my pieces just recently when my
husband decided to cook himself some sausages while I was out. He
put the pan on high heat, added the sausages and then performed
the cardinal sin of walking away and not attending to the cooking
process. Result:- the sausages were burnt so badly that
their shape was indelibly etched into the pan. Note: - one
frypan damaged beyond repair, one rather upset wife and one
husband very much out of favor.
Let's Take a Look in More
Detail
What is it made of?
One of the first things you need to know is that the Anolon
Advanced range of cookware is made from hard anodized aluminium
which is reported
to be even more durable than stainless steel.
Aluminum cookware
distributes and retains heat efficiently so that you wont experience
any hot spots or uneven cooking. In other words, it reduces
those situations where you have food that cooks really well on one
side of the pan but is raw on the other side. This usually happens
with cheaper pots and pans.
The hard anodized construction also means that these pans are
tough. Just picking up these pans reveals how solid and sturdy
they are.
The set
has the revolutionary DuPont three layer Autograph nonstick coating
both inside and out to ensure that your food doesn't stick. We'd
definitely have to agree with this. We tested one of the fry pans
and made up some omelettes without using any oil or fat. The eggs
cooked beautifully and easily came away from the pan without any
sticking whatsoever.
Beautifully designed with straight sides, the set has
a deep
charcoal gray exterior, and shiny stainless trim. So this set is
going to look great in your kitchen. But apart from the good
looks, Anolon Advanced cookware gives you excellent cooking
results.
What are the handles like?
The
handles on the Anolon Advanced cookware
are
comfortable
SureGrip riveted handles constructed from stainless steel
and silicone.
We found them quite soft to the touch and very comfortable. And
the texture of the handles means that they are not likely to slip
out of your hands especially if they are wet.
The
handles also come with a cast steel loop at each end so if you can
easily hang these from a pot rack. These Anolon pots and pans look
good enough to put out on display.
Remember that although the handles are designed to stay cool on
the stove top - always remember to use oven mitts when removing
hot pans from the oven.
Is this set oven proof?
Most
definitely.
This set, including the lids and knobs, is oven
safe to 400F so you can sear your foods on the
stovetop to get that lovely brown coloring and then pop it straight into the oven without having to
transfer the food to another piece of oven safe cookware.
What are the lids like?
The lids
are made from break resistant,
tempered glass and have a domed shape. The tempered glass means that you
can easily monitor your cooking without constantly lifting the lid
to check the contents.
There are lids
included for each piece of cookware in this set, except
for the skillets. It is quite unusual for a manufacturer to do this
as often the lids will fit two or more pans in a set, so this is a
definite plus.
