Creme Brulee Set - A Delicious Dessert

Paula’s favourite dessert is Creme Brulee, whenever we go to the Hyatt for lunch she makes a beeline straight for it.  The Hyatt in Canberra serves individual sized portions and she always takes two or three for good measure.

You can just as easily make this delicious desert at home using the Chicago Metallic 6-pc. Creme Brulee Set. Everything you need is included except of course the ingredients.

So what is included in the set:

• an 8″ square aluminum steel pan
• four 6 ounce porcelain ramekins
• A rack that fits inside the outer pan.

All you need to do is mix up the custard for the creme brulee, add water to the pan and place the filled ramekins into the spaces in the rack, pop everything into the oven where it will gently bake in hot water until it is done.

There has always been some conjecture as to when creme brulee actually originated with many such as Trinity College in England claiming to have been the first.  The college even has an iron with the official crest on with which they burn the sugar topping.

So what is Creme Brulee - well it is basically a custard with a caramelized sugar topping. A cooking torch is an ideal gadget to have so that you can achieve the desired effect.
