This means you won’t have the same experience that I once had where I forced the lid off the base way too soon, before the pressure had released, the lid flew off the cooker with some force and soup ended up all over the kitchen. What a mess! It took ages to clean up and get it out of all the nooks and crannies and off the ceiling.
This accident was totally my own fault and if you follow the manufacturers instructions (unlike me) you will never have the same experience. My new pressure cooker has an automatic pressure release setting that ensures that the lid won’t come off.
