Review: Cuisinart Chefs Classic Stainless Sauté Pan

cuisinart-chefs-classic-saute-pan1This is  Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Saute Panwith lid.

“For starters, this pan has been endorsed by a French Chef named Paul Bocuse, who is not as famous as Rachael Ray, Emeril, Paula Deen or other TV chefs. But he is the only restaurateur in the world who has been given 3 Michelin stars for over 36 years in a row! That is quite a record so the man knows good cookware!

Once you use this pan, it’s easy to understand his endorsement as it really is an outstanding piece of cookware. It’s beautifully made and is also a perfect size. Because it is professional quality, it’s heavy but the two riveted handles (one is long and the other is a looped ‘helper’ handle) makes it quite easy to pick up.

Because it has an aluminum core in its’ base, it conducts heat amazingly well  so you need to remember not to use high heat to avoid the food burning.

It weighs much less than cast-iron or anodized aluminum but is every bit as good at conducting heat fast and evenly.

As the pan is all metal, it can be used to sear food or start it off on the stove top and then put it straight into the oven – up to 550 degrees, which is the one of the highest heats I have seen for a stove-top to oven pan.

It also has deep sides which makes it great for collecting meat drippings and juices for making into gravy, again straight back onto the stove top. The deep sides also make it wonderful for soups and stews as well. It’s a very user-friendly pan for someone who loves to cook!

Size wise, it is odd as it doesn’t feel over-large when cooking for two people but it can easily accommodate food for eight.

Clean up is a breeze and it can even go in the dishwasher. It’s also safe in the freezer!

I have noticed some reviewers being disappointed that this pan is made in China, but the quality is excellent. I’m sure it will last for many years and it has a lifetime warranty.

If I could change one thing, I would have the lid made of glass so that you can see the contents as they cook but that is a very minor niggle.

This is such a great all-round pan that you will use again and again. Cuisinart say that it will keep its’ mirror like shine too. That remains to be seen, but this is one pan you will be very happy with and will wonder how you ever  managed without it!”
