Have you ever been in the deli and been amazed at how they can make quick work of nearly anything put on the cutting board with their special deli knife?
Well now they aren’t the only ones who can have that deli knife. With the Wüsthof Classic 8-Inch Deli Knife you can get the same results in your home kitchen.
The Wüsthof Classic 8-Inch Deli Knife
is designed differently than many of the knives you have in your kitchen. First, it has been forced from a single piece of high-carbon stain-resistant steel. This means it is a sturdy piece and can handle more work and pressure in the kitchen than many other knives and will continue to look great through it all.
Additionally, the blade design itself is a bit different. It is slightly offset and has a wavy edge that will make it just as easy to neatly cut bread as well as you can meats and other items. It also has an offset handle that makes it easier to cut the items you are working on without hitting your fingers on the cutting surface.
What We Like
- While this knife is a little pricier than other knives out there, in this case you are paying for quality. This is a precision knife that will do the job and last.
- It is a very sharp knife that can carefully cut bread without ripping it, while still being able to make quick work of harder cheeses and meats.
- It continues to look good use after use.
- It is a sturdy and hefty piece that feels like it will last a long time.
- The offset handle will save many knuckles, as you will be much less likely to smack them on the counter as you cut through meats, cheeses and sandwiches.
- The knife has a high-carbon stainless steel blade, hardened to maintain a sharp edge.
- The full tang provides perfect balance.
- The urable, impact-resistant polypropylene handle has been buffed and polished by hand and it is moisture- and food acid-resistant.
- The knife has a seamless fit between the handle, bolster and the full-tang making if extremely hygienic.

How many times has this happened to you? You’ve made a perfectly delectable sauce on the stove and were ready to pour it onto a plate, pasta, or where ever else was appropriate, but as you start to pour from the pot you are using, sauce begins to dribble down the side of the pot as well as to your destination. Before you know it, you have a drippy mess all over the counter and stovetop, and a lot of clean up to do.
If you were to have the Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 1-Quart Open Pour Saucier
, this would no longer be a problem. T
The Cuisinart Open Pour Saucier is a perfect stovetop pot with the added bonus of having a pour spout on one side. This means you will be able to pour that saucy creation just where you want it, and NOT anywhere else.
While many people think this is great only for making sauces, this pot is also great for small items that need to be drained like veggies or specialty pasta. You can just use a straining spoon at the spouted edge of the pot to pour the water out without having to pull out your colander.
This pot has been created with a nonstick surface so once you are done cooking, the clean up is a cinch. It also has a cool grip handle that makes it easier to use and move around the kitchen without any burns.
What We Like
- The convenience of being able to pour sauces effectively out of the pot or straining while items are still in the pot.
- The cool grip handle makes it easy to use this pot without any discomfort.
- The smaller size saucepot is great especially if it is just you or you are cooking for 2, as there is less clean up.
- The non-stick surface makes it easy to clean.

What size cookware set do you need? There really isn’t a simple answer. It all depends on the size of your family, your familiarity in the kitchen and your own personal cooking choices. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming though. There are a few simple items that any well-equipped kitchen needs.
A skillet or frying pan is essential to any kitchen. This multifunctional piece of cookware is great for whipping up a batch of scrambled eggs or a great red wine reduction.
The next item needed is a small deep-dish pot, just something big enough to hold a couple of quarts of liquid. This pot is great for heating up a small batch of soup or stew.
After the small pot you’ll probably want a few more of different sizes. Shoot for 2 or 3 in larger sizes
A stockpot is needed as well if you’re feeding a large group of people or if you just like to whip up big batches of vegetables or cook up some lobster.
As long as you’re picking up a stockpot might as well also grab a strainer insert for it. This lets you cook up a pot of pasta and just pull it out when it’s done no messy straining.
Looking back at pans in addition to the frying pan you’ll need a pan with taller sides, commonly referred to as a chef’s pan. The higher slanted sides make it great for stir-fry.
These are the basics. If you’re a bit more adventurous you can pick up grills, griddles, various sized pots, double boilers, you name it. There’s a piece of cookware for any need.
All you need to get started though are a couple pans, a few different sized pots and a stockpot. You can find sets made out of any material any price range

Bundt is a trademarked name for a piece of cookware with a raised middle to cook ringed style cakes. It’s a popular baking pan in almost every home. There are hundreds of styles out there. So let’s look at some of the options available.
Here’s a guide to Bundt cookware.
If you want an authentic Bundt pan then you’ll have to buy a Nordic Ware
product. Everything else is just a style of cookware.
Let’s look at some of those styles.
Your first option is a cheap aluminum pan. You can find these in any department store for only a couple of dollars. Aluminum heats evenly this means your cake will come out of the oven without any burned spots.
The only downside to aluminum is you’ll be increasing the fat content of anything you cook. Granted that might not be that big a concern when you’re baking a cake but any little bit you can reduce helps. Aluminum needs to be greased. So if you’re happy with using a non-stick spray or buttering the pan then this will be a good option.
The next type of pan you can use is silicone. It’s a bit more expensive than aluminum but has some great advantages over aluminum.
Silicone pans are naturally non-stick. This means you can just dump the mix into the pan and cook.
Silicone is flexible. Once the cake is finished just flop the thing upside down and you can wiggle the cake out of it.
Finally, silicon dissipates heat quickly you’ll be able to grab it with your bare hands in only a minute or 2 after pulling it out of the oven.
Whether or not you choose Aluminum or silicone there are all sorts of Bundt Cake Pan styles
available. Or you want a bundt in a wide range of styles and be assured of success you can always just go with the original Nordic Ware.
Any of them will produce a great yummy cake.

Life is too hectic these days. It seems that there is hardly time to breathe much less make a nice home cooked meal. There’s an easy option to speed up your cooking time, Induction Cookware. But what exactly is it?
Here’s a guide to induction cookware.
Not to get too technical but induction is an electrical property that uses magnetism to produce heat.
What does this mean for the chef though? Well the first thing it means is that you need an inductive range. Your normal gas stove won’t cut it. Luckily induction range prices are rapidly falling.
Since magnetism is involved you need magnetic pots and pans. If you’re set to start cooking on an inductive stove simply use a magnet to check out your cookware. If the magnet sticks then it’s inductive. Unfortunately this may mean that great set of copper cookware won’t work.
What will work though is any cast iron cookware. So if you’ve got one of those old skillets passed down from your grandmother you’re set. Just be sure it has a nice flush bottom. The more surface-to-surface contact between the cookware and the range the more efficiently the food will cook.
If, however, you’re in the market for some new cookware to try out on an induction stove just remember you need something ferrous. Bring that magnet along with you to the store.
As inductive cooking becomes more and more popular, manufacturers are meeting the chef’s needs. There are options that simply have some metal cladding built into the pot. So no worries about using ceramic or copper, just look for cookware that’s treated for use on an inductive range such as the Berndes Coquere Aluminum Induction 10 Piece Cookware Set
as shown above.
These are only a few quick tips for inductive cookware. There are plenty of options available just make sure that whatever you choose has a flat bottom, and plenty of ferrous metal to use the miracle of inductive heat.
There is a large range of induction cookware available at Amazon.com

How many times have you found yourself needing to chop up some veggies for a dish you were making and you didn’t want to pull out the food processor. While there was a good amount to cut up, there wasn’t enough to warrant a whole food processor set up.
This is where the Black & Decker EHC650 3-Cup 2-Speed Food Chopper
can step in and be the hero.
The Black & Decker 2-Speed Food Chopper can easily chop up to three cups of ingredients in nothing flat. This is a great way to get those onions sliced or something pureed without having to bring in the big food processor.
This chopper can be used with just one hand. Rest your hand on the top and push the button with the same hand.
Since this chopper is small and compact, it can be sitting on the counter all the time, waiting for the next time you need it.
The 150 watts backing up the stainless steel blade makes quick work of whatever is put into it.
Additionally, it comes with a non-slide base that will keep the machine still when you are cutting your food items up.
What We Like:
- The construction and power button allow you to mix with one hand while doing something else with the other free hand.
- The base has an anti-slip strip to keep it in place while mixing.
- It’s compact but powerful, not taking up a lot of space but able to chop things quickly.
- It’s perfect when you are preparing meals for one or two.
- The rubber base doubles as a storage lid. Anything you have chopped that you don’t use can be left in the container and popped into the fridge.
Other Things to Consider:
- Sometimes food gets caught around the blade and some of the other smaller parts which can be difficult to get out since you are not allowed to submerge it in water.
However, the majority of reviewers just love this chopper. It does a great job of chopping up the food.

When it comes to cookware there are plenty of options – metal, Teflon, plastic, wood, and of course silicone. Silicone is rapidly rising in popularity for a variety of reasons.
So why choose silicone cookware?
- Silicone is a soft material, which means it won’t scratch any of your non-stick pots and pans.
- Cleaning: Silicone rinses off easily. It doesn’t hold a smell like wood, or stain like plastic. No more garlic scented spatulas or chili stained ladles.
- Temperature: Silicone will work in any temperature range you have in your home. You don’t have to worry about your ladle melting as you stir up a pot of stew.
- Heat: Silicone is non conductive and won’t hold heat. No more burning your hand if you have to stir something for any length of time.
- Non-toxic: Silicone is a naturally occurring mineral, unlike plastic. It’s safer for you and your family.
- Naturally non-stick: A silicone cooking dish let’s you pop out baked goods without leaving half of it stuck to the pan. Not only is clean up easier but you can cook more healthfully since you no longer need to grease the bottom of the pan.
- Durability: With proper care silicone cookware will last for ages. It’s not going to fray at the edges like plastic.
- Flexible: silicone bends quite easily. This lets you scoop out any food stuck in the corners of your dishes.
- Recyclable: While silicone isn’t biodegradable like wood it is easily recycled, saving trees and energy.
- Style: you can find silicone cookware in any color you need to match your kitchen décor.
There really isn’t any good reason not to use silicone cookware. It’s easy to clean, resists high temperature, cleans easily, and is environmentally friendly. You can find silicone cookware for any culinary need from spatulas to oven mitts.
