calphalon-commercial-hard-anodized-shallow-saucepan-with-lidThe Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan as the name suggests is marketed as a saucepan but to me it looks like a mini saute pan. I think it is somewhere between the two.

Due to the wide base this is an ideal pan for making sauces as it allows for a greater surface area for evaporation for reducing liquids. But really you could cook just about anything in this pan – stews, soups, casseroles.

The pan is made from hard anodized aluminum so it heats evenly without hot spots.

Although not completely non-stick this pan does resist sticking. The trick to ensuring that foods don’t stick is to keep the temperatures a bit lower. These sorts for pans don’t require high heat to work effectively.

What We Like

  • The pan cooks evenly without hot spots.
  • You can use metal utensils without scratching the surface.
  • It has a lifetime warranty.
  • It is oven and broiler safe.
  • It’s solid and durable.

What We Don’t Like

  • This is not dishwasher safe.

Not a lot to spend on a Calphalon product although you can’t really equate this to the other high quality Calphalon products on the market today.

Having said that however, it is good value for money and will do the job nicely.

What’s Included

  • 10in by 15in cookie sheet
  • 8in square cake pan
  • medium loaf pan (4-1/2-inch by 8-1/2-inch by 2-1/2-inch )
  • 2 x 9in round cake pans
  • cooling rack

What We Like

  • It has a 10 year warranty.
  • Made from heavy gauge aluminumized steel you will be assured of even cooking and no hot spots.
  • The surface of each piece is nonstick so you won’t have a problem with foods sticking.
  • These pans don’t warp in high heat.
  • They are sturdy and strong.

What We Don’t Like

  • A few of the reviewers have noted that when washing in the dishwasher that the pans drips rusty water from the curled edges.

calphalon-one-infused-anodized-sauteuse-panThe Calphalon One Infused Anodized Sauteuse pan is big enough to cook a meal for a family of big eaters or when you are having guests over. It holds 7 quarts and the flat bottom makes it ideal to saute, simmer or sear.

The 2.75 inch sides give you plenty of room to make spaghetti sauce or chili.

Calpholon One infused anodized cookware has a polymer cooking surface which makes it non stick, stain resistant and easy to clean.

Calphalon use an anodization process that allows the polymer to penetrate the metal pores and create the a surface of metal and nonstick that suits any cooking process.

One thing I do like about the Calphalon One Infused Anodized Sauteuse Pan is that you can use metal utensils on the surface, so if you don’t have a set of silicone utensils, it doesn’t matter.

The Sauteuse pan is so versatile that it can be used on the stove top, in the oven and under the broiler with no heat restriction. This pan won’t warp as it is built to withstand high heat.

The only drawback to this pan is that it does need to be hand washed with a mild detergent. But as no food sticks to the surface the pan cleans up easily.

The majority of the reviews for this pan are very enthusiastic. One person had a problem with uneven heating and perhaps they should have returned the pan and got an exchange, after all it does have a lifetime warranty.

Included in the set are all the essential utensils most commonly used in the kitchen including a spoon, slotted spoon, large turner, small slotted turner and a pasta fork.

It also includes a utensil crock rounding off the set nicely.

What We Like

  • They are made of stainless steel so they won’t rust.
  • They are strong and durable.
  • The handles are made in such a way that you can grip them up from anywhere. Calphalon calls it the ‘grip anywhere’ handle.
  • These utensils are dishwasher safe.
  • The silicone is heat resistant to 500F.

Other Things to Consider

  • You won’t be able to use these on your non-stick cookware.
