Review: Cuisinart Chefs Classic Stainless Sauté Pan

cuisinart-chefs-classic-saute-pan1This is  Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Saute Panwith lid.

“For starters, this pan has been endorsed by a French Chef named Paul Bocuse, who is not as famous as Rachael Ray, Emeril, Paula Deen or other TV chefs. But he is the only restaurateur in the world who has been given 3 Michelin stars for over 36 years in a row! That is quite a record so the man knows good cookware!

Once you use this pan, it’s easy to understand his endorsement as it really is an outstanding piece of cookware. It’s beautifully made and is also a perfect size. Because it is professional quality, it’s heavy but the two riveted handles (one is long and the other is a looped ‘helper’ handle) makes it quite easy to pick up.

Because it has an aluminum core in its’ base, it conducts heat amazingly well  so you need to remember not to use high heat to avoid the food burning.

It weighs much less than cast-iron or anodized aluminum but is every bit as good at conducting heat fast and evenly.

As the pan is all metal, it can be used to sear food or start it off on the stove top and then put it straight into the oven – up to 550 degrees, which is the one of the highest heats I have seen for a stove-top to oven pan.

It also has deep sides which makes it great for collecting meat drippings and juices for making into gravy, again straight back onto the stove top. The deep sides also make it wonderful for soups and stews as well. It’s a very user-friendly pan for someone who loves to cook!

Size wise, it is odd as it doesn’t feel over-large when cooking for two people but it can easily accommodate food for eight.

Clean up is a breeze and it can even go in the dishwasher. It’s also safe in the freezer!

I have noticed some reviewers being disappointed that this pan is made in China, but the quality is excellent. I’m sure it will last for many years and it has a lifetime warranty.

If I could change one thing, I would have the lid made of glass so that you can see the contents as they cook but that is a very minor niggle.

This is such a great all-round pan that you will use again and again. Cuisinart say that it will keep its’ mirror like shine too. That remains to be seen, but this is one pan you will be very happy with and will wonder how you ever  managed without it!”

REVIEW: Cuisinart CFO-3SS Electric Fondue Maker

Cuisinart Electric Fondue Maker ReviewFondue has really come back into style and with products like the Cuisinart CFO-3SS Electric Fondue Maker it’s never been easier to make up a batch for family and friends.

Cuisinart are well known for the quality of their products and this one is no different. Just check out the reviews on Amazon to see how highly this has been rated by consumers.

This is an electric fondue maker so you don’t have to worry about lighting flames and ensuring that they stay lit. Just plug this one in and away you go.

This is a good sized fondue maker at 3 quarts and it looks good too with its brushed stainless steel exterior. The bowl’s interior is nonstick so clean up becomes an easy chore.

The temperature control is removable and you can place the unit (without the cord and temperature probe) in the dishwasher. How good is that?!

One problem is that the cord is short. This is one failing of this fondue maker but I assume the cord is short for safety reasons. An extension cord will quickly solve this problem.

What’s Included

  • base
  • bowl
  • temperature probe
  • 8 fondue forks
  • fork rack

Review: Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor – DFP–14BC – Large Capacity Food Processor

cuisinart-14-cup-food-processor If you are in the market for a food processor, you want one that really can chop things up. With a 720 – watt motor, the Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor may be just what you are looking for.

Its large capacity is not just in the bowl, but also in the feed tube that leads  into the chopping mechanism. Sure it has the regular feeding tube, but this food processor also has an extra-large feed tube option that will speed up the process of getting food chopped and getting you on to the next part of your preparation plans. The extra-large feeding tube is big enough to put a whole potato into the machine and slice it up in seconds.

The Cuisinart 14 cup Food Processor comes with attachments for four types of work – a shredding disc and a slicing disc as well as blades for chopping or mixing dough. It also has an easy to use pulse option if you just need to have a quick extra chop.

When it’s time to put it all away, the stem and other protruding pieces can be removed and put inside the bowl to make the whole unit more compact and take up less space in your cabinets and shelves.

Features at a glance:

  • A large 14-Cup Lexan Work Bowl with Handle
  • A work Bowl Cover that has an Extra Large Feed Tube
  • There is a large pusher and sleeve assembly
  • There is also a small feed tube and pusher
  • Stainless Steel Standard Slicing Disc (4mm) and Medium Shredding Disc
  • Stainless Steel Chopping/Mixing Blade and Dough Blade
  • Detachable Disc Stem
  • Spatula
  • A handy ‘How-to’ Video and Instruction/Recipe Book
  • Full 5-year Motor Warranty
  • Limited 3-year Warranty on Entire Unit

What We Like:

  • It is a powerful machine that will process your food quickly.
  • The large feeding tube allows for less prep work with the same results
  • Clean up is easy as most parts are dishwasher safe.
  • The food processor comes with a video that tells you all you need to know about the machine.
  • Although it is a sturdy machine it runs quietly.

What We Don’t Like:

  • Some of the plastic parts included in this food-processing package may not hold up well to regular use.
  • It has a number of safety features where things have to be ‘just so’ to work. It can get frustrating trying to make sure everything is perfect so you can process food.
  • Customer support is not as good as it should be for a higher priced item like this.
  • Can be fiddly to clean

The majority of customers who own this  Cuisinart Food Processor are delighted with its features and performance and you can read the reviews at
