Cuisinart CPC-600 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker

cuisinart-electric-pressure-cookerRemember the days when your pressure cooker would fill you with dread? You had to make sure you didn’t get too close unless absolutely necessary and then when you had to take it off the stove you had to run it under cold water until the lids would release. Well fortunately those days are gone with the new style of pressure cookers available today.

The Cuisinart CPC-600 1000-Watt 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker is so far removed from those old style pressure cookers. Just the look of it tells you that this is something different. It almost looks like a rice cooker.

This pressure cooker works by push button controls. You can pre-programme it for high or low pressure cooker and browning, simmering, sauteing and warming.

As with all pressure cookers, this won’t work unless the lid is completely sealed and it stays sealed until the pressure returns to zero. This is a great safety feature.

It has a nonstick cooking pot that is dishwasher safe so clean up is so easy.

Review: Cuisinart White Pro Custom 11 Cup Food Processor – Model #DLC8S

cuisinart-white-pro-custom-11-cup-food-processorAfter reviewing the Cuisinart Power Prep Plus Food Processor we had to turn our attention to one of their cheaper food processors to see whether the price really made a difference.

The Cuisinart 11-Cup Pro Custom 11 Food Processors is one of the classic food processors in the range.

This processor has only one speed but this is all that is really needed in a food processor as the consistency of the food is controlled by how long you process it for and not the speed. This is also where the pulse control comes into play.

The work bowl is an 11 cup capacity so should be large enough to handle most tasks. If anything it is probably too large for some of the smaller jobs. For instance, you may be better off cutting a small amount of parsley by hand rather than use the processor as the effort of trying to scrape the contents from the side of the bowl and having to clean it up after, may not be worth all the effort. This is probably suitable for a family but may not be worth the effort for one person or even a couple. A smaller cup processor may be a better option.

The dough blade is made from hard plastic but is in contrast to the Cusinart Power Prep model which has a stainless steel dough blade. If you are purchasing this more for the dough kneading option than anything else then you are probably better off with the Power Prep. The stainless steel dough blade is supposed to be a better option as it is  provides a smoother knead of the dough.

One important factor to remember about food processors is that they are not blenders. We often see complaints about liquid seeping out of their food processor and we’re not just talking about this particular model – it seems to be a common complaint for a number of different food processors. This is because food processors don’t work in the same way as a blender and they just don’t handle liquids well. If you want to process a lot of liquids then buy a blender. For anything else, buy a food processor.

What’s Included

  • 11 cup work bowl
  • One standard steel blade
  • Dough blade
  • Two slicing discs
  • One shredding disc
  • Instructional video/DVD – you may get one or the other
  • Large and small feed tubes
  • Recipe Booklet
  • Spatula
  • 5 year warranty on the motor
  • 3 year limited warranty on the entire unit

What We Like

  • The machine can knead up to 3lb of bread dough.
  • It has a large feeding tube which means you can put in whole fruits and vegetables. This saves you the time of cutting the food into smaller portions first just to feed into the feeder.
  • The work bowl is shatter proof, heat and cold resistant.
  • The parts are dishwasher safe.

Overall this is quite a good food processor although it has received mixed reviews on the internet for it. If you have some extra dollars to spend then we would recommend the Cuisinart Power Prep Food Processor which has received outstanding reviews.

Review: Cuisinart Food Processor Blade and Disc Holder

cuisinart-food-processor-blade-and-disc-holderNow this is a great idea. If you have a Cuisinart food processor then you might have your blades and discs stored in a plastic Tupperware container or in a drawer. But wouldn’t it be nice if they were stored in a container made especially for them?

The Cuisinart Food Processor Blade and Disc Holder does just that.

The benefit of using this holder is that it is a lot safer than storing in a drawer where you can easily cut your fingers when looking around for the right blade or disc to use.  It also keeps them away from the kiddies.

Storing you blades in this holder also prevents the blades from dulling as compared to say placing them in a drawer where they may move around a lot easier.

This holder stores the chopping and dough blades, the disc stem and up to 3 discs and is suitable for all 7, 11 and 14 cup food processors or at least according to the Cuisinart website.

However, there have been a number of reviews on Amazon from people complaining that this doesn’t suit the Cuisinart DLC-5 food processor which is a 7 cup food processor. So you might want to keep that in mind if you own one of these.

Another complaint about this product is the fact that you require two hands to open the lid. This is more of a safety issue than anything as it is intended to keep children from getting easy access to the blades.

Some consumers were also concerned by the fact that the holder does not have a bottom so picking it up can involve touching the blades.

Even so apart from these issues, this product has been rated extremely well by consumers. They loved how it kept their blades stored neatly and within easy reach and how it protected the blades compared to other storage methods.

Review: Cuisinart Power Prep Plus Food Processor Review

cuisinare-power-prep-plus-food-processorThe Cuisinart Power Prep Plus Food Processor (DLC-2014N) is one of those products that is not only rated well by those in the business but also rated well by consumers themselves.

The Cooks Illustrated Catalogue recommends it and consumer reviews for this product are outstanding.

This Cuisinart 14-c. Premier Series Power Prep Plus Food Processor is a power horse of a machine that will process through anything. I love the fact that you can put whole pieces of fruits and vegetables into this. This definitely saves on the time you would normally have in cutting and preparing foods to fit through a smaller feeder tube.

The other new feature of this model is that it comes with a stainless steel dough blade. In the past, Cuisinart have used a plastic dough blade. The new metal blade provides for smoother kneading of dough.

Features

  • 14 cup capacity
  • 2 speeds
  • touchpad controls
  • new sleek design

What’s Included

  • custom spatula
  • recipe book
  • how to video
  • a chopping blade
  • a dough blade
  • a shredding disc
  • a slicing disc
  • instruction book
  • detachable disc stem
  • small and large pushers
  • 14 cup work bowl

What We Like

  • The wide open feed tube allows for whole fruits and vegetables.
  • The sleek new design of the Cuisinart Power Prep Plus means it will take up less room on your counter top.
  • It includes both large and small pushers.
  • The motor has a 10 year warranty and the unit itself a 3 year.
  • It comes with a separate blade and touch control for the preparation of dough.
  • All the detachable parts are dishwasher safe.

Other things to consider

  • The processor comes with an instructional video. It would be better if it were a DVD but I notice that the Cuisinart site itself indicates that a DVD is included. Both Cooking.com and Amazon state that a video is included. In other words, you may get one or the other so be prepared.
