Vacu Vin Wine SaverHow often have you had a great bottle of wine that you wanted to savor for days? But you knew better. If you didn’t drink it all right away it was going to quickly lose that great flavor and become sour wine. So, you are stuck with a dilemma, do you drink more than you wanted to in order to be able to enjoy the wine or do you sorrowfully put it in the refrigerator hoping against hope that it will last just a little while longer, but knowing you will likely have to throw it away?

That is the type of situation that led to the creation of the Vacu Vin 3-Piece Wine Saver. It is a vacuum mechanism that will remove the excess air from the wine bottle and let you store it so it can last longer.

If you don’t understand the workings of wine, the problem is the air hitting the wine. Once you open the bottle, the air that gets into the bottle will begin to age and sour the wine. So, it would make sense that if you are able to remove that air from the bottle, the wine would last longer.

This set includes a plastic pump to remove the air and a pair of rubber stoppers to close up the bottle until you are ready to get back to it. This will help your wine last a few more days so you can enjoy it until it’s gone.

What We Like:

  • This will let you keep a bottle of wine tasting fresh for a few days.

What We Didn’t Like:

  • Using the pump can be difficult if you have any sort of dexterity problems.
  • It doesn’t seem to be able to remove enough air to keep the wine as long as it claims. More sensitive wines may go south very quickly.

This 600-watt bread maker can be programmed to mix the ingredients and have the bread piping hot and ready as you wake up in the morning. Additionally, if you have a big family, you will appreciate that this machine can create loaves up to 2 pounds in size, double what many other breadmakers can cook at a time. That means there will be more than enough bread to go around.

When it comes to baking bread, you have options with this machine. Whether you like a lighter brown crust or if you like your bread well cooked, you can program this machine to give you just what you want when you want it.

It is also coated with a nonstick surface on the inside, which means you shouldn’t have a problem getting the bread out once it’s ready as long as you make sure not to use metal utensils when working with the machine.

What We Liked:

  • This is an easy to use machine as most of the requirements are self-explanatory.
  • It comes with a recipe book so you can get to cooking right away.
  • It is programmable so you can do a number of extra things, like make specialty breads with extra ingredients added later in the mixing stages.
  • It is lightweight for the size of the bread that comes out of it.

Other Things to Consider:

  • It may not always cook as  evenly as liked.
  • It does not always like thicker breads, like wheat, and sounds as if it may strip gears as it tries to mix the more denser types of dough.

  • The retro red color brightens up the kitchen while the white toaster coordinated nicely with most kitchen decor.

Things to Consider:

  • It does not always toast the bread evenly.

What We Don’t Like:

  • Mold can form where the steamer water inlet is and it’s very hard to dry out even if you want to.
  • It takes up a lot of space.
