It is also advisable that you Do not store raw, marinating or cooked foods in the pan as this may also cause pitting and damage the  surface.  Once you have finished cooking and serving the food, transfer any leftovers to a container to be stored in the refrigerator.

Another smart idea to protect your pan is to use silicone, heat-resistant plastic or wooden tools.
