‘Pinch My Salt’

A fabulous site compiled by Nicole who not only provides great recipes but also lots of fantastic photos to accompany them. Nicole and her husband are Americans who until recently lived in Sicily so it stands to reason that some of her recipes reflect an Italian flavor.

She is in the process of putting together her first recipe book which will consist of recipes not included on the website.

Now for a taste of the recipes that are on the site, check out the Naughty Ice Cream, a truly decadent ice cream sandwhich that combines Kahlua-flavored dark chocolate chunk brownies and ice cream spiked with Bailey’s. An ideal treat for the up and coming Valentines day.

As I have previously stated, I love chorizo so when I saw the recipe for Tomato Paella with chorizo I just had to try it. Do yourself a favor and make this dish, it’s scrumptous.

There are many other great recipes to try so head on over to Pinch my Salt and enjoy.

Joy of Baking

This is one of those absolute treasures. The blog is written by Stephanie Jaworski and the recipes are all tried and tested in her own kitchen. The fabulous photographs are provided by her husband Rick.

Now believe me when I tell you that her recipe for Banana Muffins is absolutely mouthwatering to die for.  I am a great fan of banana cake, bread and muffins just in case that escaped your notice.  I also love bananas au natural – simply skinned.

The blog is full of amazing recipes that I just can’t wait to try.  So if you are looking for a great range of cake, biscotti, brunch, dessert or special  event recipes be sure to check out the Joy of Baking site.

‘Bake or Break’
Adventures of an amateur baker

This blog is written by Jennifer,  who gives lots of advice and information.  If she has substituted an ingredient she tells you where you can buy it so that your recipes will turn out every bit as good as hers.

There are just so many great recipes and fabulous photos on Bake or Break, so I settled on this fantastic collage of desserts to show you what a wealth of baked goodies there are available on this site.

The recipes are all available in a printable version so you can print off the ones you want to try.  And there are a number of photos of each item so that you can check that your creation looks as it should.

I was rather taken by the Cinnamon Apple scones that not only taste wonderful but the aroma when they are cooking is very nice indeed.

The corn bread bites are nice with a plate of hot steaming beef stew. And here is a recipe for Chocolate filled cupcakes that will have your mouth watering.

Each of the photos shown on the collage lead you to the recipe for the item shown. So there is a wealth of great baking for you to try out.

We are very impressed with the Bake or Break blog and you will be too.

After Taste (by Sherry) – Blog of the week

After TasteThis weeks Blog of the Week is

‘After Taste (by Sherry)’

I  came across this blog quite by accident. And  I am so glad I did.

After Taste is full of posts that make enjoyable reading as well as having excellent recipes that are easy to follow.  And you know by now, I like easy to follow.

Sherry has an interesting recipe for Scrambled eggs that I found to be very tasty.  I generally like my scrambled eggs unadulterated by anything other than salt but I did enjoy the added taste imparted by the addition of garlic powder and chilli flakes.

The Penne alla Vodka looks like its well worth trying, sounds very interesting and of course it can be made alcohol free.

I thoroughly recommend that you check out ‘After Taste (by Sherry)’ as apart from being well written, nicely presented, great recipes there are also tips on where to eat when you are in New York.  It’s always handy to get this information from a native of the area, they generally know all the great eating spots.

Smitten Kitchen

What a great blog we have for you this week. Smitten Kitchen is written by foodie Deb and her husband Alex who assists with the photography.

Deb has some fantastic recipes that are easy to make and a joy to taste.

Apart from all the great cookie recipes why not try the Fettucine with Porcini as a quick and easy dinner dish or an absolute favourite of mine, Sweet potato and sausage soup in which I use the Spanish Chorizo, simply cause I love it.

This is a great blog with lots of recipes, easy to follow instructions, great photos and lots of humor.
