For those of us who like the look and feel of ceramics, this Emile Henry flame top casserole is a very attractive and practical piece of cookware. It can be used directly on a gas flame or on an electric or halogen hob without the use of a diffuser and without fear of cracking or breaking thanks to an innovative development in ceramics technology.
What We Like
The Emile Henry casserole is extremely durable and versatile as it can also be used in the broiler or oven and transported directly to the table, refrigerator, or freezer.
The ceramic casserole is much lighter than many other comparable metal cookware
products and it is both microwave and dishwasher safe. Being ceramic, it is also
quite easy to clean.
Cooking in ceramic is one of the best ways to preserve the flavors and
nutritional qualities in food, as well as develop the aromas.
The convenient lid features small bumps on its underside that aid the
condensation process and return important steam vapors back into the food.
The Henry family own and operate a company that manufactures the finest quality
ceramic ovenware, gourmet cooking and bakeware products. The company was founded
in 1850 and is located in Macigny which is a small town in the province of
Burgundy in France.
The cookware products are manufactured from Burgundy clay using a state of the
art manufacturing process known as Ceradon.
Having the ability to keep food warm for a long time after it has been removed
from the microwave or stove is a big plus for us.
This casserole dish is dishwasher, oven proof, broiler and microwave safe.
This makes it one versatile piece of cookware. This dish can move easily from
stove to table and then to fridge or freezer.
We also like the look of these casserole dishes. They are attractive and come in a variety of colors including red, green and black.
What We Don't Like
Ceramic products can have a tendency to chip if not handled carefully.
