Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Saute Pan Review

Rachael Ray 5 Qt Hard Anodized Covered Oval Saute Pan

Rachael Ray is as well known for her fun, perky personality as for her television cooking shows. And her range of cookware reflects this with its bright, vibrant look that really sets itself apart from the rest of the cookware available today.

In Ray’s own words her cookware ”...has to be fun, fashionable, and help cooks succeed in their homes,....At the same time, it has to be of the highest quality, while also providing good value.”

Our first review in the Rachael Ray range is for the Hard Anodized Oval Sauté Pan.

This is a particularly popular piece of cookware probably due as much to the hype surrounding Rachael Ray than anything else. Leaving all that aside, however, we found this pan to be unique in it’s design and good value for money.

The clear glass lid that allows you to view your food while cooking meaning that you can keep an eye on what's happening without having to remove the lid. This keeps the steam in and maintains the cooking temperature.

The grip on these pans is made from silicone so the handles stay cool and provide a solid grip.

This pan is oven safe to 400F making the transfer from stovetop to oven a simple process.

The nonstick surface makes this pan exceptionally easy to clean. This is especially important since this pan is not dishwasher safe.

Although a nonstick surface is generally not considered to be the ideal for sauté pans we really don’t see this as a major issue for the home cook. A sauté pan requires a metal with good heat conduction and the Rachael Ray Hard Anodized pan does the job nicely.

The unique oval shape of this pan makes it ideal when cooking with multiple burners as it maximizes the space available on your stove top.

What we don't like

Not dishwasher safe.

If color and coordination are important to you then you might want to think about how this pan will fit in with the rest of your cookware. The orange coloring is quite distinctive and may not blend well with your other cookware particularly if you use a pot rack.

Having said that however, this pan also comes in black as part of the Anolon range of cookware.

Caring For Rachael Ray Cookware
